How to Use
1. Open the zero adjustment cover |
|
2. Turn on
|
Open the zero adjustment cover. The counter cannot suck the air when the cover is closed.
|
|
Turn on the power switch.
|
3. Start measurement |
Place a measurement sample close to the air suction opening. An ion count is shown on the LCD display of the ion counter and the PC screen.
The image on the below shows 1810 (pcs/cc) of negative ions generated by radium ceramic balls.
|
Measurement range: You can manually change measurement range.
X1 = 0-20,000 (pcs/cc)
X10 = 0-200,000 (pcs/cc)
X100 = 0-2,000,000 (pcs/cc)
Zero adjustment: We suggest you should perform zero adjustment for an accurate measurement. It takes only 1 minute.
Start zero adjustment after doing several measurements and the reading stabilizes.
LCD display: The LCD shows ion count/temperature/humidity.
Measures Positive/Negative Ions: You can manually switch to the positive <-> negative ion measurement.
PC Connectable - You can save/open/print out ion data
You can connect this ion counter to your PC.
Using
the specially designed software, which comes with the counter, you can save, open and print out files which contain the ion waveforms, ion count, temperature and humidity.
It will help you to make a report.
Affordable yet Highly Accurate, Conforms to the JIS standard
✔ Affordable yet Highly Accurate, Conforms to the JIS standard
The COM-3200PRO II, which conforms to the JIS standard
(*1)(*2), provides highly accurate ion measurement. It meets professional requirements.
Most high-end ion counters employ the Gerdien capacitor detector.
However, very few of them are in this price range.

(*1) JIS B 9929 Standard for measuring methods of airborne ion density. What is JIS?
(*2) Product structure and Ion count conversion formula only - Measurement method not applicable
✔ Highly reliable Japanese Gerdien capacitor detector
The precisely designed, manufactured and adjusted
Gerdien capacitor detector (Double coaxial cylinder type ion detector) provides highly accurate ion measurement as it maintains an ideal laminar flow
(*3)(*4).
(*3) The parallel flat plate type detector is used in many lower-priced ion counters found in the market. This detector can provide unstable measurement as it disrupts the flow of the intake air in the detector.
(*4) Laminar flow: Nonturbulent motion of a fluid in which parallel layers have different velocities relative to each other. (Collins English Dictionary - Complete and Unabridged )
Comparison of the detectors
Generally, there are 2 kinds of detectors. This high-end ion counter uses a
Gerdien capacitor detector (Double coaxial cylinder type ion detector). A lower-priced model usually uses
a parallel flat plate ion detector.
1. Gerdien capacitor detector (Double coaxial cylinder type ion detector, used in the COM-3200PRO II)
It provides highly accurate measurement as the air flow is relatively stable in the detector.
It is good for low concentration ion measurement of e.g. 10-500 (pcs/cc) as well as high concentration measurement.
Ion counters conforming to the JIS standard all use this type of detector.
2. Parallel flat plate ion detector
It does not provide highly accurate measurement as the air flow is not stable in the detector. It is not good, particularly for low concentration ion measurement.
✔ Minimize impact of static electricity
The COM-3200PR II is designed to minimize impact of static electricity which can cause inaccurate measurement. It ensures to provie a highly accurate measurement.
Data Collection Software
This software installed on your PC displays the ion count data. You can save and print out the data. It will help you to make a report.
You can view and print out:
1. Ion waveforms
2. Minimum/Maximum/Current/Average ion count
3. Date/Temperature/Humidity
You can open saved files and view them at any time.
You can connect this counter to your PC via RS-232C or USB. This software is compatible with Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista/7/8/10/11.

Q & A
Q & A: Ion counter
|
(1) Can I measure natural ores which emit radiation?
Yes, you can if the natural ores emit certain amount of radiation.
However, we suggest you should use the ion counter for natural ores if the radiation is very small amount.
(2) Do I need to perform zero adjustment before starting measurement?
We suggest you should conduct trial measurements 10 minutes after you turn it on and then perform zero adjustment after the reading stabilizes. This will ensure precise zero adjustment.
(3) Is it difficult to perform zero adjustment? How long does it take?
It is easy and it takes a minute or two under stable ambient conditions.
(4) What is the ideal distance between the detector and the sample?
There is not an ideal distance.
However, the ion count detected by the counter can be lower than it actually is
when the sample is too far away from the counter. 10mm +/- will be fine.
Please be sure that the sample never makes contact with the detector.
(5) How long is the time interval between data collection?
Ion count data is collected every second.
(6) Can I save data in the counter?
No, you cannot. The software, which comes with this product, enables you to save data in your PC.
(7) Can I measure ion densities in water?
No, you can't. This ion counter is for air ions.
(8) What is the lowest ion density this counter can measure?
It is 10 (pcs/cc).
(9) Can I use it outdoors?
Yes, you can. (FYI:) It takes 4 hours +/- to charge the rechargeable built-in battery and then the counter works for 8 hours +-/.
(10) Does the software, which comes with the product, enable me to control the counter remotely?
You cannot control the counter remotely. The software is designed to display ion data on your PC.
(11) Do I need to adjust the detector?
No, you do not need to.
(12) Do I need to connect the counter to the ground?
Normally, you do not need to. We suggest you should connect it to the ground when the air is dry and static electricity is generated.
(13) Please tell me why the measurement tolerance is not found in the specs.
It is not included because there is no official standard to measure air ions and the tolerance.
Measurement tolerances can be found in specs of products supplied by other companies
but they can be theoretically calculated values.
FYI: The theoretically calculated measurement tolerance of the COM-3200PRO II is close to zero
due to the precisely designed, manufactured and adjusted detector.
(14) What are the main differences between this counter and other low priced products?
The COM-3200PRO II has these advantages.
- Despite the compact body, it provides stable measurement as it uses a detector ensuring large air flow.
- The precisely designed, machined, finished and adjusted Japanese Gerdien capacitor provides highly accurate ion measurement.
- The counter is designed to minimize impact of static electricity which can cause inaccurate measurement.
(15) Can I use this ion counter in my country? I think the voltage and AC plug are different from Japan.
You can use the COM-3200PRO II in most countries as it works with AC100-240V and comes with the AC plug adaptors for the countries.

Q & A: Data collection software
|
(1) What OS does this software support?
It is compatible with Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista/7/8/10/11.
(2) What interface does this counter have?
You can connect it to your PC via RS-232C or USB.
(3) What do I have to do to print out?
You need to install the driver for your printer and connect the counter to the PC.
(4) Can I connect to our LAN to share data?
Yes, you can but you need to set up the LAN connection.
(5) Is this software compatible with Mac OS?
No, it is not.
|
Q & A: Maintenance work
|
(1) Does the counter require calibration? If it does, how often does it need to be calibrated?
We cannot calibrate the COM-3200PROII because there is not a reference device for ion counters. We can inspect if your COM-3200PROII works properly according to our standards.
Normally, it does not require the inspection if it is used under normal conditions.
However, the detector can accidentally suck in foreign particles, which could cause inaccurate measurement.
Please contact us if your counter seems to be working improperly. We can inspect the detector.
(2) Can I clean up the detector by myself?
No, you cannot. Please contact us if it needs to be cleaned.
|
Q & A: Others
|
(1) Can I return the counter?
We accept returns within 8 days of delivery.
(2) Do you offer a rental service?
No, we do not.
