How to Use
No complicated setting is required. You just turn on the ion counter, select the measurement range and place the measuerment sample close to the air intake part. It takes only 30 seconds to start to measure ions. The image below shows 1800/800 (pcs/cc) of negative/positive ions are detected.
Measurement range: You can manually select the measurement range from 199,900/1,999,900/19,990,000 (pcs/cc). For more details, please see the instruction manual.
Zero adjustment: No zero adjustment is required. The counter is automatically calibrated.

✔ Measures Positive/Negative Ions Simultaneously
The NKMH-103 is an affordable ion counter yet measures positive/negative ions simultaneously.
Unlike other ion counters in this price range, you do not need to switch to the positive <-> negative ion measurement mode. This model simultaneously measures both ions and displays the ion counts on the LCD display.
✔ Measures up to 19,990,000 (pcs/cc), Ultra Wide Range
The NKMH-103 measures 100-19,990,000 (pcs/cc). There are very few ion counters which can measure over 10,000,000 (pcs/cc).
This ion counter is good for measurement of 2,000-300,000 (pcs/cc) ions emitted from negative ion products up to over 10,000,000 (pcs/cc) ions generated by high-performance ion generators.
| The NKMH-103 is not good for low density ions. The NT-C101A is available to measure ions in the range of 0-10,000 (pcs/cc). |

This ion counter runs on x 006P dry battery or 100-240VAC/50-60Hz via the AC adapter. You can use it in most countries.
DC Analog Output
You can use the cable, which is included in the package, to connect a DC voltage meter or digital multimeter to the ion counter. DC voltage, which is in proportion to the ion count *1 *2, is extracted from the counter. This allows you to remotely monitor the ion count. You do not need to stay close to the counter during the measurement!

(1) How long do I have to wait after I turn on the counter? You have to wait 30 seconds. No complicated setting or calibration is required before measurement.(2) Do I have to perform zero adjustment before measurement? No, you do not. The counter is automatically calibrated.(3) What is the ideal distance between the detector and the sample? There is not an ideal distance. However, the ion count detected by the counter can be lower than it actually is when the sample is too far away from the counter. 10mm +/- will be fine. Please be sure that the sample never makes contact with the detector.(4) Can I select a measurement range for positive ions and another range for negative ions? You cannot select different measurement ranges for positive and negative ions. They are simultaneously measured within the same range.(5) Do I have to wait 30 seconds after I change the measurement range? We suggest you should do so because it provides more accurate measurement.(6) Can I store the ion data in the counter? No, you cannot.(7) Can I measure ion densities in water? No, you can't. This ion counter is for air ions.(8) What is the lowest ion density this counter can measure? It is 100 (pcs/cc).(9) Do I need to adjust or calibrate the detector? No, you do not need to.(10) Does this counter require grounding? We suggest you should ground it because it provides more accurate measurement.(11) I cannot find a measurement tolerance in the specs. Why? This is because there is no official standard to measure air ions and the tolerance. Measurement tolerances can be found in specs of products supplied by other companies but they can be theoretically calculated values.(12) Do you have a users manual written in other languages? We only have English and Japanese versions.(13) Can I transfer the DC output signals to my PC? No, you cannot. It can cause failure of both the PC/counter. You can use the cable to connect a DC voltage meter or digital mulitmeter to the counter. (14) How can I use the DC analog output jack?
You can connect a DC voltage meter or digital multimeter to the ion counter by using the cable, which is included in the package.e.g.   (15) Can I use this ion counter in my country? I think the voltage and AC plug are different from Japan. You can use the NKMH-103 in most countries as it works with AC100-240V and comes with the AC plug adaptors for the countries.   |

(1) Does the ion counter require calibration? If it does, how often does it need to be calibrated? It depends on your usage and ambient conditions but we suggest it should be calibrated once a year. We can calibrate your counter. You can feel free to contact us.(2) How much/long will it cost/take for calibration work? It will cost 225USD+/- depending on the exchange rate and will take a week or two. We will contact you to give you a quote if the counter needs calibration work.(3) Can I clean up the detector by myself? If I can, how can I do that? Yes, you can. |
